Pickleball: The Fastest Growing Sport in the United States

Pickleball at WAC

Pickleball is the fastest-growing sport in America, nearly doubling in size over the last few years. You may want to consider trying pickleball at our Watsontown Alliance Activity Center. We play most Monday nights, 6:30-8:30 PM and most Wednesday mornings, 9:30-11:30 AM. Please check our church calendar to be certain we are playing.

Pickleball is part ping-pong, badminton, and tennis. We welcome first-timers, those wanting to learn, and those with previous experience.  Pickleball is easy to learn compared to other sports.

This sport has been around for nearly 60 years. Two dads from Seattle, Washington, created pickleball to help relieve the boredom of their families in the summer of 1965.

Pickleball is a game the entire family can play. Part of the appeal is its affordability for families, as there is nothing more than a paddle and a ball required. We have extra paddles and balls, so to play at the Alliance Activity Center located behind the church, you do not need to bring anything!

Golf has been replaced by pickleball in many senior communities as the game of choice. It is a great game for the older generation, because it does not require a lot of movement like tennis.
